HIKE #3

A climb might be a better way of describing the summit.

Caught a train to Grindelwald. Started the hike close to mid-day. An incredibly steep and narrow trail lay before us alongside the side of the cliff.

Almost 3000 ft of elevation packed into 4 more or less miles. Many breaks to stop and take in the sheer dramatic view.

Spent the night looking over Grindelwald’s magical lights. Woke up early to summit Chrinnenhorn Peak. We were accompanied by multiple mountain ibex.

Summitting to the top of the peak without another soul around felt surreal. A complete 360° view of both the Eiger and the glacier that lay in the other direction. As I sat their, journaled, and drew, I heard large pieces of the glacier break off forming mini-avalanches. Spots like this really make you feel entirely small.
